Purchasing Information |
Please read the following prior to sending an email, most questions will be answered here or on the underlined pages. |
** I set high expectations for my self and as a result extend it to other people. I therefore expect people to be responsible adults, I do not find this as an unreasonable expectation as most people want to be responsible adults. As a result of this when you make an appointment to see a horse, I would ask that you (the adult) please be considerate of my time if you CANNOT make it - -CALL the barn number (936)767-4892 as soon as you know you are not coming to cancel instead of relying on email, this means a few hours and not 30 minutes before you are to arrive. I enjoy riding my horses and I know you will understand when I say that I would like the chance to ride, instead of waiting for you to make your appointments.
** Fees: All horses carry a freeze brand on the left hip and are micro-chipped. The microchip itself is $12, and from AVID the registry fee is seperate and up to the new owner to determine which registry is best suited for their horse and may be registered through one of these organizations: TSCRA (Texas and Southwest Cattle Raiser Association) and the TSCRA fee or Horsetrac (800) 336-2843 this fee is $15. A new Coggins is $18 -$25 for new owner transfer (1-day coggins $45), some of the horses are not ridden and do not carry a current coggins or they may be outdated, foals do not have a current coggins. Horses that are shipped out of state (check your state) may need to have a Health certificate $20 or $25 depending on Veterinarian available. I will try to use the Veterinarian with the lowest price for all services requested depending on which one is open at time of request, remember Vets change their prices so DO NOT quote me on their prices. An original receipt for all veterinarian charges will be supplied to the new owner (for coggins & health cert.), unless multiple horses were taken, I will then supply you with a copy and the number --you may call to verify that services were rendered for a specific horse if you desire. You the potential buyer will need to total up the charges that are necessary to the horse you are interested in and your location if out of state and add this to the listed horses price.
* An additional check made out to the horses equine registry AQHA ($15 member $50 non-member), PtHA ($20 member $30 non-member prior to 120 days) and/or NFQHA (see web site) for the transfer. I regret having to do this but I have horses still registered in my name that I sold back in '94 & 96'. I will mail the papers and membership/transfer with your check directly to the registry you may give extra postage for certified mail. This also falls within the guidelines for most registries as it is the breeders/owners responsibility to ensure horse is transfered OUT of their names. Horses will not be transferred into new owners name until all payments are accounted for.
** Please read the general Information pages, prior to contacting me with a question. These pages will answer most questions you may have about clipping, leading, loading, farrier and riding etc., Refer to the horse individual page about specific information. These pages are being updated to bring you the most current statistics about the horse, not all of them are complete so if a question is not answered for your there please send an email. My horses do not have any bad habits, if they do, I am honest and it will be mentioned in their ad. I take pride and love each and every one of my horses.
* Often I will do reference checks on potential buyers, especially first time horse owners. So please be prepared to provide references prior to purchase. This is very important to me and is non-negotiable.
* I will not sell a riding horse that is beyond a persons current riding potential or ability, even if you bring your trainer with you. It does you, the horse and myself a disservice. I want you to come back and bring a friend for future purchases. I cannot do this with a lie standing between us.
** If you decide you want to purchase a horse from me, you may place a (non-refundable) deposit in the amount of 1/4th the purchase price on the horse to hold for up to 10 days. Please do not take offense, but because of past misunderstandings, I will not hold a horse on a hand shake or verbal agreement. Without a contract or deposit the horse will be sold to the first individual who signs and puts money down. Also there are no late payments or payment adjustments once contract is signed. The power company will not give away power, a car dealership will come and pickup your car for delinquent payments and I will come and get my horse for the same reason.
* Payment plans accepted with half down (required), we will work with each person on an individual basis.
* Horses and foals listed under one thousand dollars will not be sold on a payment plan. I will hold a horse with half down and the rest due when horse is picked up in two weeks along with daily care. Other arrangements for housing may be considered, however 1/4th is non refundable, if you change your mind.
** I do not do test buys or test trials, tried that once and one of my horse’s was abused, ridden hard and left standing, tied, wet and still saddled in the trailer while the “cowboy” went in to drink and dance. As a result the horse tied up (muscle seizures) due to lack of water, muscle fatigue and colicked (he died). Do not ask to take the horse home for a trial bases or to test him out. The horse will do for you what he does for me, you may ride him as many times as you like in my presence. Would you leave me your brand new truck to use at my discretion with no guarantee of purchase, and your still responsible for all the bills?
* Contracts are available for stallion service. Generally outside mares are artificially inseminated using fresh semen if possible over natural coverage. As a certified Artificial Insemination Technician with an additional certification in pregnancy diagnosis, it is safer for the stallion, mare (foal) and handler to use AI and there is less chance of injury to all participants. Having said all that I can now contradict myself and say Peppy currently does live cover due to his easy going nature. I will collect upon request.
* Contracts available for starting your colts in a natural way or remedial training for a horse that is just a little spoiled or out of shape.
* I recommend pre-purchase exams (vet checks) before any purchase of any horse mine or anothers. It is up to you, as the potential buyer, to talk with the veterinarian and decide what is acceptable for your needs and situation. Once a local veterinarian (within 45 minutes of my hauling time) is paid in advance and I am notified, I will deliver the horse for the appointment (this will have been prearranged and potential buyer will cover fuel cost). I checked in the phone directory for local Vets, I have not used some of them.
* I have been riding for nearly 40 years and have never put shoes on a horse, nor did my grandfather or his father. These horses have good sound feet, were never lame and lived into their mid to late 30's and worked up until the day they died. Back then horses were worked hard and had to put food on the table not take it out of the families mouth and they were not for recreation, except for the wealthy. The barefoot method is catching on and with good reason, the natural hoof is sound with a little maintance. I trail ride extensively in the Sam Houston National Forest and can do up to 25 miles or more per day on a horse. Note: The Houston PD's Mounted Patrol horses are all barefoot and they ride constantly on pavement in downtown Houston, if you get a chance take a look at the hooves, you may also notice that many are ridden in only rope halters. |
* If you want your personal horses microchipped or a freeze brand applied; email to set up a clinic date.
* Hand made Natural Rope Halters with Fiadore knots and or side pulls (like a bit-less bridal) are available in various colors. Using this type of halter will soon put you on your way to free style or hands free ridings with a sound training program.

NOTICE: It has come to my attention that due to having placed multiple ads on the horses at different sites by myself and friends that the prices have varied on the same horse. THEREFORE: The prices listed on this website and their attached pages are the ones that will be honored. I apologize for the inconvenience and misunderstandings from the adds.
