 Texas Trail Riding Group

The Texas Trail Riding Group  aka 'TTRG' was started by myself and a friend on April 8, 2006 for people who like to ride horses in National Forest, State Parks, Deserts, Beach's and River systems.  This group is free to join.

We have the TTRG Trail Rides in a photo album, so just click and enjoy the show.

We found that our riding areas were decreasing around the Houston Area and the small Citys that we love so well.  Myself and a few others knew parts of the Sam Houston National Forest really well and others know the River areas, so we combined our efforts and extended our trail and water riding ranges along with a healthy dose of 'formal' trail rides.

Many of us are also Airport Ranger and assist in Homeland Security to keep our friends and family safe.  Please click above on the right icon to select the web page for TTRG to view the information on joining both the Texas Trail Riding Group and the Airport Rangers (above tab).

We discuss:  Training on the trails as we all want sound (mentally and physically) trained horses. We also discuss nutrition, general health issues and events that affect our trail mounts. All trails in Texas are welcome including good places to ride in and along rivers that have good public access.  Please let us know if you have a safe trail to ride so that we may add it to the group files of trails.

The group web site as of 2012 now has over 150 trails listed and 50 maps that you can down load at no cost.  http://texastrailridinggroup.club.officelive.com/default.aspx

Open the Trails excel document and on the Information Tab look at the beautiful Texas Map and see what area/region of Texas you want to ride in or plan a great vacation with your horse.   After you have selected from the 7 region's.  Next in the excel click on one of  the lower tabs for Trail Name, Location, Miles or Maps then scroll down to locate the trail that you are interested in.  Next open up the word document by selecting the alaphabet letter that corresponds with the name of the trail that you chose.  Trails contain links if possible along with an address, phone number, directions and information on the trails.   If you find any error's or new locations to ride, please email the group so it can be corrected.

The excel workbook Trails has several filters to make your search for trails easier.  When you click the link select open (you may save it if you wish) an excel document will open (virus free) the filters are already set up just click the colorful tabs on the lower left hand side of the excel document for:  Information, Trail Name, Location, Miles or Maps; also water (Beaches and Rivers), B&B and Dude Ranches.  The Information tab that shows the above map and the 7 map regions.  Updated 1/4/12
